Now that we have my audiobook opinion out of the way let’s talk about the book I Just listened to!
I stayed up far too late on Sunday night finishing “Me Before You” by JoJo Moyes. I then proceeded to be in a book hangover for a bit at how stunning and amazing this read was. Did I know the ending going into it? Yes I did….I mean just look at the title of the sequel. Did I dive in and get swept into the romance…well duh!
Louisa Clark is a character that is hard not to enjoy. She does what she thinks is best for her family and is always putting other before herself. Is she naive and dumb at times? Yes but in the end Louisa is a changed person and for the better.
Will Trainer is someone I wanted to hate. I mean all people are trying to do in life is make him happy and all he does is sass and push them away. But for the life of me I couldn’t hate this man and in fact I adored him!
Together Lou and Will make a power duo! I found myself laughing and crying with them. I found myself smirking at the same times as Lou does in the book! It also helps that while listening I was picturing the actors from the movie! Although I have yet to watch the movie I just know them from the trailer and what not!
STOP NOW IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS FOR THIS BOOK! I REPEAT SPOILERS BELOW!!!!!!
Spoiler time. Thank god JoJo killed Will off in the end. Yes I loved him and would loved to have a sequel all about him and Lou’s life after but that’s not what this book was about! This books was about self discovery and finding out what makes you happy.
For Will it was his old life that made him truly happy. While I believe Lou changed him and made him the happiest he ever was, I don’t believe it would have lasted. He loved her with all his heart but knew that wasn’t enough for either of them. While the scene on the beach absolutely broke me along with Lou I understand Will and his intentions.
My favorite part was Lou going to Switzerland and coming somewhat to terms with Will’s choice and being able to say goodbye. I don’t know what I would have done in anybody’s shoes in this book. I loved when Lou is in Paris and she gets Mrs. Trainer’s letter of gratitude because through the story no matter how brash she was to Lou, Camilla saw hope happy Will was and that’s all a mother can want.
Of course I tested up at Wills finally letter to Lou and I can’t wait to listen to the other two books in this series and see what she makes of herself!
Until next time that’s the tea!
